We have read and heard about the 7 wonders of the world in books. Today in this article we will talk about those 7 wonders of the world. We will tell in which country they are located, why they are selected in the list of 7 wonders of the world and much more knowledgeable information about them.



1. Chichen Itza




Chichen Itza is a complex of Mayan ruins centrally located on the northern half of Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula. Chichen Itza was founded by the Maya, an ancient people native to the Yucatan Peninsula. Height of chichen Itza is 30 meter or 98 feet. Chichen Itza is home to a number of architectural and natural wonders, including El Castillo, the Great Ball Court, the Temple of the Warriors, the Sacred Cenote, and more.

Chichen Itza is one of the “New 7 Wonders of the World” due to its large concentration of culturally-significant, ancient manmade wonders and its placing in the top 7 of all nominees during international voting.



2. Great Wall of China




The wall is the longest man made structure in the world, with a total length of about 13170.7 mi or 21196.18 km. Made over the course of hundreds of years, the wall was built by over 6 different Chinese dynasties, and is over 2,300 years old.

The tallest section of the Great Wall is 14 meters (46 feet) from the ground. The average width of the top walking area of the Great Wall is 4-5 meters (13-16 feet).



3. Petra




Petra is located in the Kingdom of Jordan. Established as early as 312 BC, the ancient city of Petra is half man-made and half-carved into the pink rocks of Jordan. It’s an incredible sight you can’t find anywhere else on the globe, so it’s not surprising that the Rose City was voted as one of the New 7 Wonders of the World.

Petra has around 800 carved tombs. UNESCO defines Petra as the ‘Most expensive traditional properties of man’s traditional heritage’.



4. Machu Picchu




Machu Picchu is an Incan citadel set high in the Andes Mountains in Peru, above the Urubamba River valley. There no real way to predict when exactly Machu Picchu was built, but archaeologists presume it was built between 1450 and 1460 with construction starting around 1438.

Machu Picchu was a massive city that had more than 150 buildings. The buildings include baths, houses, temples, and various sanctuaries.



5. Christ of Redeemer




Christ the Redeemer is an Art Deco statue of Jesus Christ in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, created by French sculptor Paul Landowski and built by Brazilian engineer Heitor da Silva Costa, in collaboration with French engineer Albert Caquot.

As part of the New 7 Wonders of the World, Christ the Redeemer gets approximately 2 million national and international visitors every year.



6. Colosseum




The Colosseum is an oval amphitheatre in the centre of the city of Rome, Italy, just east of the Roman Forum. It is the largest ancient amphitheatre ever built, and is still the largest standing amphitheatre in the world today, despite its age.

The Colosseum is a popular destination for botanists. As catalog began to be compiled of the the flora in 1643 and over 337 different species have taken root among the ruins.




7. Taj Mahal




The Taj Mahal, is an ivory-white marble mausoleum on the southern bank of the river Yamuna in the Indian city of Agra. It was commissioned in 1632 by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan to house the tomb of his favourite wife, Mumtaz Mahal.

In 2007, people from all over the world voted the Taj Mahal as one of the new seven wonders of the world. It was an initiative that was started because all of the old wonders of the world, except Cheop’s Pyramid, had been destroyed
